Indoor Air Quality Monitor (IAQ) |
The IAQ device is a no frills particulate matter (PM) sensor packaged in
a small enclosure with a bright, easy to read LED display. The
device is based on the
Sensirion SPS30
and monitors the smallest PM2.5 particulates (the most dangerous to
human health). Unlike official US EPA monitoring stations that report
24-hour
averages, the IAQ display updates every 20s with an estimate of the
current AQI. Reporting current AQI better informs decisions about when
more ventilation (or HEPA filtration) is needed, e.g. when cooking or
during wildfire season.
All measurements are sent to the cloud over WiFi so the entire history is available for visualization and analysis. More detailed measurement data (e.g. PM2.5 ug/m3, PM10 ug/m3) can also be streamed over the local WiFi network.
A companion iOS app provides setup and configuration capability as well as real-time monitoring of current status.
